In honour of Volunteers Week 2023 the National Independent Visitor Network are launching a new mailing list and newsletter for volunteer Independent Visitors in recognition of their passion and commitment to improving the lives of young people in care.

We’ve really excited to collaborate with some of the 2,500+ befrienders across England and Wales, and have consulted with our network to figure out the best way to do this. We’ve drawn inspiration directly from the brilliant newsletters that services are already sending out, and are pleased to announce that we’ll be crafting a newsletter just for Independent Visitors, with campaigning, training and networking opportunities for volunteers.

The newsletter will be sent out via email every other month, with the first issue in July 2023, and will contain:

  • News and updates from the National Independent Visitor Network
  • Opportunities to get involved with our work e.g. our Advisory Group
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Virtual opportunities to meet and connect with other befrienders across England and Wales

Though the newsletter’s content will be written and curated by the NIVN Project Team (click here to find out who we are), we are part of a broader network that consists of 7 regional groups in England and one group in Wales made up of Independent Visitor service providers and professionals. We regularly touch base with our members to share our ideas and gain their valuable insight.
